I have an 81 that's my daily driver, and I don't baby it. It goes in heat, cold, dry and wet.
I maintain it properly, and fix things when they break. I worked on it for a little while to get some of the Corvette-specific bugs out of it, and it works fine for me.

There's no running an old Chevy into the ground.you fix it if something goes wrong, and you keep going. As one of the other posts mentioned, these cars aren't worth a ton of money, so they make great drivers if this is the car you want for every day travel. BUT, they aren't super comfortable, they aren't fast, they have their quirks, they don't get good fuel mileage, and I think if you want to drive one daily, you must have an appreciation for the car that is above all of these things. It's certainly not for everyone. If it's the type of car you want to drive, drive it and have fun.
