TrackerBox is software for writers that takes all of the reports they get from Amazon, Apple, Barnes & Noble, and a host of other distributors, and organizes them into a single, manageable set of reports. It saves hours of time each month for hundreds of writers, but there's one, gigantic gap that it doesn't cover. It is only available for PCs. It's not available for Macs. I've been trying for years to find a way to support my Mac using friends, but the original is written in a language that doesn't translate well to usage on a Mac. This means I have to rewrite the entire application in a brand new language. And I just haven't had the time to do it.
That's what this Kickstarter is about. If you help me out, it will allow me to take the time away from my other projects to provide TrackerBox for Mac users. It will also allow me to purchase the hardware necessary to build it. This is the only way the Mac version of TrackerBox will ever get made, and I know how much that will help so many of you. Every month, you, an indie writer, receive a set of files from various retail outlets and distributors. And if you are like most writers, you want to know the total number of books sold, and you want to know it now. Filter your reports by vendor, author, transaction type, and more.
Save a filter set to instantly recall it. With TrackerBox, you can import those files into a single database in as little as a few clicks and a few seconds (it can take longer if you have a lot of books). Then, once they're imported, TrackerBox has a suite of reports available to let you view your sales information in nearly any way you can imagine. You can also export those reports into a spreadsheet so that you can get even more detailed about your reporting, if you wish.

It will also be cross compatible with the Windows version of TrackerBox, so if you have a Mac and your assistant has a Windows machine, you'll be able to look at the same database (if it's in a shared location). This is a total of $50 off the regular price if you were to buy them separately in the future. There will be a bundle price once both of them are for sale on the website, and this will be a savings of $20 off that price. When Will I Get It? The ebook and the Windows copies of TrackerBox will be sent out as soon as the surveys are completed and returned to me after the end of the Kickstarter, sometime in early December. The Mac version, of course, will take longer, but I expect to have the first usable version ready by early February, 2018. It will not be the final version, only the first.
Due to the nature of this software, it will never be complete. Vendors change their reports, necessitating changes in the software. You can see the history of the Windows version, if you want an idea of what to expect. Currently, there have been 65 versions of TrackerBox for Windows released since June of 2011, or just over 10 updates per year. What Kind of Licenses Are These? The TrackerBox license is a one-time payment license that will let you continue to receive updates to the core functionality as long as there are updates available.
There may, in the future, be some paid add-ons, but you will never lose the functionality you've paid for due to updates. You will be free to use the software on any computer that you own. If you have an assistant that is not a family member, or you run a publishing company with employees, you will be asked to buy a separate copy for each assistant or employee that uses the software.
Risks and challenges There are always risks with creating software. The biggest risk with TrackerBox Mac is that I have limited familiarity with the operating system, and may need some time to come up to speed. Mitigating that risk, though, is that I've been a software developer for nearly twenty years, and I have a lot of experience on multiple platforms. TrackerBox for Windows has been live since June, 2011, and I'm very familiar with how it works. I also have much of the hidden code already ported, and the real challenge is making the user interface work.
Generally, a download manager enables downloading of large files or multiples files in one session. Many web browsers, such as Internet Explorer 9, include a download manager. Stand-alone download managers also are available, including the Microsoft Download Manager. If you do not have a download manager installed, and still want to download the file(s) you've chosen, please note:. You may not be able to download multiple files at the same time.
In this case, you will have to download the files individually. (You would have the opportunity to download individual files on the 'Thank you for downloading' page after completing your download.). Files larger than 1 GB may take much longer to download and might not download correctly. You might not be able to pause the active downloads or resume downloads that have failed. The Microsoft Download Manager solves these potential problems. It gives you the ability to download multiple files at one time and download large files quickly and reliably. It also allows you to suspend active downloads and resume downloads that have failed.
